Celebrating International Women’s Month

Crown Pointe is celebrating International Women’s Month by shining light on the holiday and recognizing some of the strong women in our lives! We are so fortunate to have many amazing women that help make Crown Pointe a fantastic place.

In 1987, after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress designated the month of March as Women’s History Month. Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as Women’s History Month. These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made throughout American history! We decided to interview some of our current employees and find out why International Women’s month is important to them.

Why is Women’s History Month important to you?

"Because many great women have done amazing things to get us where we are today." - Dee

"This month is an opportunity to learn about our great leaders, activists, and pioneers who have worked hard to ensure women are recognized, and that future generations will learn about contributions women made throughout the world." - Madison

Who is your favorite figure in women’s history and why?

"Susan B. Anthony because she was a resilient fighter for women’s rights."

"I chose Florence Nightengale because she formed modern nursing!" - Dee

"My favorite figure in women’s history is Michelle Obama. She is graceful, genuine, strong, and compassionate." - Julie

What are some things that you admire about the women in your life?

"That they are resilient, classy, and have tenacity." - Pria

"The women in my life never back down from what morally is right. The women in my life carry themselves with poise, kindness, and self-respect." - Melanie

What does it mean to you to be a strong woman?

"Self-sufficient, independent, hardworking, and confident in any endeavor they tackle." - Madison

"To know what you are worthy of while maintaining respect, dignity, and class." - Melanie

Who are some inspiring women that you look up to?

"My sister, my sister-in-laws, and their daughters." - Dee

"My mom is my inspiration. As a young girl growing up, my mother taught me to be resilient, to not tolerate disrespect, and to be a go-getter. She taught me to pursue any and all educational and professional opportunities that come in my path. She laid the framework and steered me through a straight path to achieve my goal of becoming a healthcare leader."
